The Renegades Baseball 12u kicked off their season on May 11th doubleheader at Richmond. The boys came out focused and excited to play their opener and it showed early, with the Gades taking an early 4-1 lead. Hot hitting Richmond, playing in its seventh game, showed why they are undefeated, with a strong third inning, coming back to take a lead which they would not relinquish.

With a game under their belt and butterflies leaving the boys, Game 2 was a tighter affair, with the Gades losing by a score of 8-5. The boys got production from the entire lineup, including loading the bases late in the game, but ultimately fell short.  Veteran coach Tim Murphy used a full slate of pitchers, keeping his boys on a strict inning/pitch count as they build up arm strength for the season.

Murphy’s Boys will use these first two games as a learning experience moving forward in league play. The boys jump back into action Tuesday with a road affair at Grayslake.
