Matt Byars
Coach Matt Byars
Coach Matt Byars joined the Renegades coaching staff in 2020. Matt has experience coaching youth players with the Wheatland Athletic Association as a baseball camp counselor. Coach Byars has a passion for the game of baseball. In high school, he played for Providence Catholic High School, Illinois Redbirds, and Wheatland Ducks travel programs.
Coach Byars has attended the I-70 coach’s clinic learning from many high-level coaches such as Buck Showalter, Brent Strom, and Darren Foster. Coach Byars will be assisting Coach Alexander with the 12u team as a hitting and middle infield coach.
When Coach Byars is not around the game of baseball, he is studying mathematics at Loyola University Chicago. Coach Byars aspires to be a high school baseball coach and mathematics teacher. He is currently doing student observations at Taft High School and will officially start his student teaching in the fall of 2020.
