13U Renegades – Mount Si Big Barrel Bash Champions!
Issaquah, Washington, July 21, 2013 – The 13U Renegades traveled to Seattle for their 2013 “bus trip” and brought home the Big Barrel Bash trophy! The Gades played against teams from the Puget Sound area in the two-day event going 1-1 in pool play on Saturday and 3-0 on their way to winning the championship bracket on Sunday.
The Renegades pulled off wins against Impact Sports, the Bellevue Warriers, the Northwest Islanders, and the Hard Knocks. The most exciting win was against the Northwest Islanders. After losing to the Islanders in pool play, the Renegades met them again in the semifinals. Scoring one run in the top of the sixth, the Gades were up 5-1 when the Islanders came up to bat. Although the Renegades allowed three runs in the bottom of the sixth, the team held the Islanders in the seventh and ended the game with a pick-off at second. In the championship game against the Hard Knocks from Lake Stevens, Washington, many pitchers contributed and smart base running helped clinch the title.
